Love movies where the humor is different than the locker room stuff that Hollywood spews out. But apparently the writer couldn’t fit any homosexuality in it, so had to throw in a description of an act when talking with the 4th grade teacher. So yeah, just like every other movie, tv show, or book these days. I swear they get bonus money for that.

Fantastic movie, everyone played their part very well...Cummings played the downward spiral of a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders that just can’t catch a break, but is able to snap into action when he needs to...I loved this movie and recommend to anyone...although this movie has its comedic moments, I wouldn’t call it a comedy...

I saw this early January and it is my favorite film I’ve seen this year. A layered performance and stupendous work by the entire cast and crew.

Great Movie with some weird twist n turns. Not your everyday flick.

I am amazed as well with the high ratings for this movie. I found his behavior to be that of a person in a jump suit at the crazy farm and not in a police uniform. I see where the actor, Jim, is trying to go with launching moments of strong emotion but the fading in and out within the same scene and his un-contolled anger just didn't work. No way a normal person could relate to this behavior or his story as it was presented.

Furutan1 2019-01-28
To be frank, this movie is awful. If the first four minutes aren't enough to make you blow this one off, and if you try to be fair, all you get is pretty much all the same. An extremely messed-up guy with anger management issues provides a non-stop flood of messed-upness. And that's pretty much what it's about. The guy acts his heart out, but the movie is awful. I have no idea who wrote all the positive reviews and I don't know where they came from. A big question is answered when the end credits state that the guy who starred in it also wrote it and directed it. With few exceptions such films are very self-indulgent and this one clearly is. Unless you are into 123 minutes of messed-up followed by a guy finding some sort of vague resolution, I'd give this one a pass.

It is so riveting to watch this movie filled with emotionally painful moments and bursts of comedic perfection. At its core it is heartwarming and endearing. I don’t think I’ve been so struck by a film since I was a teenager 20 years ago falling in love with film in the first place.

I was left speechless by the raw human essence this film portrayed. Absolutely phenomenal and a must-see.

Usually movies like this that fly under the radar are second rate and just kind of average. Such is not the case with Thunder Road. Jim Cummings is excellent in this movie, bizarre, off beat and at times very funny, even though the subject matter is pretty serious. Great script and it ends up being very touching at times as well.

If you can get through the opening dialogue in the church, you can get through it all. It's well done and 97% seems high for this film, 75-80% seems more appropriate! Anyway enjoyed the relationship with his daughter.

Julietbravo007 2018-11-10
Congrats to Jim Cummings! Wow! That he did so much of the work on this movie and played the part beautifully is a major accomplishment. He's super pleasant to watch and really funny and very much a "jimmy Stewart" of the 21st century. Reminds me of mark duplass actually! Whom I adore. Such a good movie! I also would call this an instant classic and at the same time it depicts exactly a certain struggle that America is going thru rn like an epidemic. Hilarious and heartwarming xo

I can safely say I’ve never seen a movie quite like Thunder Road. I feel like watching it in a theater versus at home must be two totally different experiences. I watched it alone and it felt so sad, lovely, and poignant. But I could imagine that in different surroundings it would be wall to wall laughs. Such a tonally shifty movie and yet never feels muddled. So impressed.

Amazing and breathtaking movie. It perfectly showcases what some police officers go through and experience in their lives. This movie moved me to tears as it’s been a long time since I was able to connect and sympathize with a character in a movie like this! Amazing, just amazing. Thank you for this movie!

This lead actor does a fabulous job really makes you feel like you can feel his pain.

Best movie I’ve seen all year. I can’t recall a film in the last few years that made me laugh and cry so much. Jim Cummings does it all in this small film – he wrote it, directed it and starred in it. He probably also did the catering and was the best boy. It’s soooo good.

I guess I don’t have the humor gene or this movie has a lot of fake reviews. I found it interesting it wasn't rated. Glad I didn’t watch it with the kids in room.... to many frequent F bombs. Save your money and rent something else....

@WBDass 2018-11-03
‘Thunder Road' is a heartfelt portrayal of a man overcome by grief and poor choices that will have you crying and laughing.

toddlich12 2018-11-02
With so many giving 5 stars to every movie they like, it has now become unreliable. The movie was flat and never gets off the ground. Had to turn it off halfway through....thought I was in store for a 5 star experience...NOT!

acerunner007 2018-11-01
This movie represents everything that is wrong with independent mumblecore movies. Incoherent, confusing, abrasive, and flat out offensive in places. Characters don't act like real people. The main "actor/director/executive producer/co-editor/writer" feigns every emotion, camera move, line of dialogue, and premise. I want my money back, and I hope this filmmaker never makes a movie again in his entire life.

Awesome performance. Jim Cummings is a tour de force.

I remember when i saw Blue Velvet and i thought, well this is a new way to tell a story. Same feeling. This is the kind of artist that is his own genre.

Chuck2poor4aol 2018-10-30
This is a worthwhile movie the whole way through. In my opinion this hangs with Joel Edgerton and Jeremy Saulnier as great first features. Look forward to the next.

This film hits all the right notes, laughter and tears in equal measure - a perfect gift to movie lovers everywhere!

This movie tugs at your heartstrings. The story of a young divorced cop struggling to cope with the death of his mother and a tenuous relationship with his 10-year-old daughter, one of those children of divorce so adept at seeing through their parents. Jim Cummings perfectly captures the intensity of his vulnerable character’s desire to do the right thing no matter how many times he botches it up. If you like indie films like Juno and Little Miss Sunshine, you’ll love it.

Such a great heart warming story. Def a must watch.

As a projectionist at the Alamo Drafthouse, I have the opportunity to see a lot of films that otherwise don’t get attention by big movie theaters. I had the privilege to see this movie twice and loved it every time. My current favorite of 2018.

A powerful, raw look at the underside of grief and love. I was hooked within the first minute. I’m pre-ordering on the power of the short film of the same name and have been sharing with everyone I know.

fenwayfan34 2018-10-04
I love this film. It paints a picture of grief in a dark comedy without sounding cheap at all. I'm hard and calloused in theaters with emotional movies, but this movie was so authentic and genuine that it just got to me. Cummings has a future in acting, writing, and directing. What a gem.

LoganAustin 2018-09-24
Just watched this last night at the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta. The work here is spectacular across the board - skillfully written, tenderly performed, and well shot. That's the part that impressed me the most honestly. The short succeeds in part from its intense commitment to the one-take aesthetic, and much of this film plays in the same way, long takes with actors free to carry the energy of the scene.

singafer 2018-09-24
I laughed (aloud and a lot). I cried (okay I teared up). I enjoyed it tremendously. “Thunder Road” is a different kind of film. It’s very personal and unexpected. How are you supposed to act when you’ve lost someone you love? How are you supposed to act when you’re embarrassing your kid? How are you supposed to act when your whole world unravels bit by bit? Awkward. Funny. Sad. Go see it.

Absolutely blown away. Jim Cummings is such an inspiration to me as a writer/director. He made the movie he wanted to make, with the people he wanted to make it with, in the place he wanted to make it...and he pulled it off and distributed by himself! This feat alone is amazing and so is the film. Cummings performance is one for the record books. It’s full of insane, well performed outbursts of sadness and humor but truly shines in the little moments. The story is so heartbreaking but also so funny and true to life. In terms of filmmaking, this thing just does everything right. The one takes throughout the film help sell the realism and make the performances shine even more. The editing is paced like we are Jim, always following him and living through his pain. I felt every ounce of this film. I ordered some food before the show and I couldn’t even eat it during the film because it sucked me in SO much. I was lucky enough to see this on the big screen but I believe it comes out on iTunes soon. Please check it out when you get a chance to support filmmakers that want to tell the stories they want to tell so they can truly make a difference in this world.

It's ok. The main character's fake crying got annoying after a while. The storyline itself was a little bland with predictable plotlines. Jim Cummings is an amazing director/producer. I just think he needs to not be the star of his films.

Haleyemerson12 2018-09-21
This film is equally moving and funny. Jim Cummings wears many hats and does it well.

Thom42351 2018-09-21
You ever heard of an instant classic? This is one. A genre-defying masterclass that celebrates the tribulations of fatherhood.

LSZ1318 2018-09-20
It’s breathtaking in its originality of form and narrative; one of those films that effortlessly rides the line between drama and comedy without ever compromising itself or insulting the viewer. Refreshing. Bravo!

Honest, dark, funny, complicated and truly amazing. Such incredible story telling and talent in this film. Highly highly highly recommend!!!

I had the opportunity to see the premiere of this film at SXSW (where it won the Grand Jury Prize), and I was blown away. Very funny and very moving all in one. Great film!!

crparent33 2018-09-05
I saw this film at SXSW. It was truly amazing. The audience was laughing and crying througout. Truly a unique moviegoing experience for me. I can't recommend this film enough. Watch it with a loved one! It won't disappoint. I promise!!

The story’s power comes from its ability to be relatable. It doesn’t feel like a movie but rather a personal experience.

lallahrue 2018-09-05
The funny, heart wrenching, and raw emotional journey of man trying to pick up the shattered pieces of his life.
