not bad but still
That’s the nicest thing I could think of
deimos & sanford
I loved the movie don’t listen to the people who thinks it’s bad
Movie is pretty good. Yeah it’s a little modern and has rap music in it, but that’s not really a problem in my opinion. This grinch is not as mean as the Jim Carrey one, but again, this is meant for kids. My heart will always stand by the Jim Carrey version, but the newest one is interesting!
This one is a win for us. Same story just with a twist and since it came out we watch it every December.
the sonic player
some random person????
Who gives a crap about the narrator for five minutes.who cares if his voice is weird deal with it.Universal was trying to change the story from the original grinch.Him being an orphan was trying to change story and Cindy Lou’s mom being single was to show the audience Cindy Lou’s character.I loved this movie. If your gonna give a bad review then keep your mouth shut!!!! Awesome movie Universal The rap music and Christmas songs made the movie more modern. That’s what y’all were going for and the ppl who give bad reviews just don’t understand that BEST MOVIE EVER👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️😃😄😁🥰🥰😍😎😎😙😜
Can’t buy but seen it before
As messy as the live action version was, at least it was able to fill out its extra hour of runtime when compared to the animated original with SOMETHING new. Some kind of new take on the characters, some kind of new take on the story, some kind of new take one the… (shudders) art direction. This movie has… nothing really. The Grinch is a nice guy from the get go, I guess so little kids know who to root for? There’s a bunch of unnecessary Hallmark-tier side plots about Cindy Who finding Santa (for the little kids to relate to I suppose), and, uh, Mom Who being a mom, because it is hard to be a mom (this one is for the moms, could you tell?). All very pandering, all very dull, all with boring and unstylish animation. That being said though Tyler the Creator was fine here, get over it boomers.
A great Christmas movie. Has a lot of absolute funny moments, and my whole family enjoyed it. 🤣🤣😂😂😃😃😆😆😁😁😍👍👍 😆❤️❤️❤️
This movie is much better than the original, despite what other people say. Don’t listen to them. They don’t know a cow from a horse. Benedict Cumberbatch is sooo much better than Jim Carrey. Jim Carrey=😬🤢
He is such a terrible person and actor. Sooooooo much better than the creepy classic one!
Much better than the obnoxious Jim Carrey version.
Max steals the show!
This movie is so hilarious 😂
I love this movie soo much
Me and my cousins know this movie by heart
The animations cute and it’s soo funny not like the original ( boring!)
WARNING I’m LITERALLY WRITING THIS ON CHRISTMAS
This is a bad remake I remember my friend watching this in dance and...this was so cringe and when I got home and watched this grinch I was just like😶😐😑 so ya don’t make a new grinch like this also.HaTeRs GoT tO hAtE!
It had some nice animation and some solid Christmas cheer, but this is definitely not The Grinch. It’s a very, VERY watered down version of The Grinch to appeal to little kids and nothing more. If you’re an adult you’ll most likely be annoyed or bored to tears. Stick to the original animated film or the Jim Carrey version. Skip this one.
I couldn't stand it so badly that I had to turn it off less than 10 minutes into the movie. Rap, really? The narrator was horrible... sounded like he was reading off a script for the first time in his life. This is exactly how NOT to make two genres collide...
18 years ago the first big screen Grinch was debuted from its book. Unfortunately it wasn't computer animated, nor inventive. This is the long delay that has payed its due, a remake of the famed Grinch story put together with the proper formula to create the perfect chemistry in the story. This Grinch is not only played by (Benedict Cumberbatch), he makes him more of a person rather than a creature. In Jim Carrey’s portrayal of the green hermit we feel his mannerisms are that of big foot rather than a common human. Cumberbatch brings out a more sympathetic and likeable approach in the Grinch that i felt had the same significance in the book and is more preferred than a mean spirited bafoon. Speaking of which, the who’s portrayed here are also good natured and genuine, they are more concerned about their entourage quire skills rather than maxing out their credit cards.
The Story as we know is the same except for some improvements, it is done by Illumination pictures who is well known for its work on Despicable me and its famed dialogues of humor in the characters, the same affect is put into action in this Grinch and it works, this one is funny but with a twist of humor, not not meant to scare any viewers such as Carrey did. The who’s in that Grinch were also mean spirited and they the Grinch more of an antagonist than one of them. Theres scenes where the Grinch runs into some who’s and he engages conversations with them all starting on positive notes!. Where was this screenplay in the past? What im also touched by is the fact Grinch’s dog Max is portrayed as a true companion rather than Slave. Here Max is interactive on human level, he plays chess, goes shopping, and much more with his owner.
The plotting is better and more to the point, we are introduced to Cindy Lou Who, played by young (Cameron Seely) is a daughter any mother would love and she’s celebrating christmas with the boldest purpose, to pray for a better life for not yourself, but your mom, Cindy doesn't like it when she works nights and doesn’t get to see her much in result. So she puts her faith in Santa, who not only is she sending him a letter, but setting up a trap in her living room to get his attention. This is as cute of a plot as you can get to where it strikes the perfect balance, lovable for kids and laughable to adults. However the disadvantage is she has friends that don't believe her but go with her flow anyway. The Grinch’s quest to steal Christmas this time is more of a friendly scheme, yes he’a stealing everything but is trying to fly down crumpit not with his dog with a horn tied to his head, but rather pull the sleigh using a reindeer with real horns. That quest fails, they fins one out of 8 who looks like he “ate the other seven” Grinch assumes, but plan B? Allowing Max to wear a “hat” with a horn and actually sit in the sled.
This Grinch movie is what the last one should’ve become and the kind of direction the book also should’ve went. Of course we want the cruel grinch, but we want joy tied to his story, not misery. I really liked it, it was funny on a cute and innocent level and the audience would find that more appreciating. What i really appreciated was how this film played a 2 way story to where the who’s had as many plot points and screen time as the Grinch. Illumination did the best job with this story they are deemed the perfect fit. They know how to perfect the animation where the sequences of Grinch stealing Christmas looks swooping and effortless, a note of advice to Jim Carrey, when clean sweep robbing neighbors living rooms and kitchens....use tubes and vaccums that don't wake up the whole street, its more realistic that way. Big thumbs up for the Grinch.
I understand trying to cater to a modern audience. But the reveal moment for this film when the Grinch changes is wasted. The Grinch is grumpy because he is an orphan??? (Note: the Grinch never uses the word ‘hate’ in this film) Rap music for a Christmas film? The Who’s don’t even know who the Grinch is!!! The single parent motivation for Cindy Lou Who is atrocious and lazy. If you laugh in this film, it’s because it was in the trailer. If you enjoy this film, then you don’t understand the original content. By the numbers film that Universal forced upon Illumination. The Jim Carrey version is rightfully PG...this film should be rated G because it targets a younger audience.
It was so good I recommend it!
Don’t wast your time or money. Stick with the original.
This is a great movie to watch with the family specialty in the holiday
LISTEN UP, IF YOU ENJOYED THIS MOVIE, YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL FOR 20 YEARS BECAUSE U DUM LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
It was ANAZING I loved it when the dog got the call from the room and guess what? He comes in on the grinch doing squats and the dog be like U_O “who is my owner other than a huge idiot?” But still the whole thing was Amazon’s Cindy Lou is awesome and I like the grinch to better then the live action one trust me WAY better but anyways amazing bye!
It talks about kindness and how even if you make a mistake you learn from it
This was not a good movie. This had a lot going for it at first glance, but besides a few memorable moments, this just felt like a generic Christmas themed rip off of Despicable Me. As simple and short as the original was, it still rings supreme as the best version of the Grinch.

I understand certain classics are worthy of a remake every two or three generations, but this one absolutely wasted its potential... Not terrible by any means, however quite a waste of time and money.
This is my favorite comfort movie. I have probably watched it 100 times. I think that the older grinch movie is scary and dark and this one is lighthearted and sweet. The animation is beautiful. I love that the grinch acts rude but isn’t evil at heart. You can see his kind heart throughout the movie through how he treats his dog. I currently watch this movie on Netflix and will be buying it on iTunes when it leaves Netflix. I don’t mind the new rap music. It is different from the old grinch movie, but sometimes change can be fun. This is my favorite movie and I would recomendable it to anybody with an open mind.
