A.C.O.D. follows Carter (Adam Scott), a seemingly well-adjusted Adult Child of Divorce. Having survived the madness of his parents’ (Richard Jenkins and Catherine O’Hara) divorce, Carter now has a successful career and supportive girlfriend (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). But when his younger brother (Clark Duke) gets engaged, Carter is forced to reunite his bitterly divorced parents and their new spouses (Amy Poehler and Ken Howard) for the wedding, causing the chaos of his childhood to return including his wacky therapist (Jane Lynch).

The cast makes this movie because the script is formulaic and predictable

CKB612 2014-06-04
I didn't laugh or even chuckle once. The story line is scattered, the dialog is generic, the characters are moronic, predictable and trite, the attempted humor falls flat at every attempt, and the cherry on top of this beige sundae I just want to forget is the horrible canned ending. This movie had potential considering the cast but it was squandered because the movie execs who put this crap together grossly underestimated the audience once again. Don't waste your time or money!

Great cast, acting and fully realized characters. Watched it twice.

Started strong and just fell flat. Wife and I bailed after an hour. Shame, has a great cast.

ACOD is a cute movie that actually hit close to home a few times. The humor made the realistic points more palatable. ACOD are the least parented generation. They often cover for their parents and wind up having to lead the family, or so they think. Really they're a mess inside. Yeah, I agree with all of that. I expected the film to be entertaining because of its cast and to be cheesy because it was made in Hollywood. It didn't disappoint. and I'm fine with that because it was a 99-cent rental and because I am an ACOD who is good at pretending it's all good. The most interesting part was the end when real interviews of the crew showed their emotion and pain through smiles. Now, that was powerful stuff. Do something with that next! Maybe go to Canada or something so you can make the film...LOL

Rented it for .99 cents. Probably spent too much... The story and characters never develop. Uninteresting characters you never quite care for, either way. Eighty-eight minutes I'll never get back.

I am a child of 60 year married parents but liked this movie enough to watch it twice. It was a bit of a cause and a comedy, but it dealt with a topic that I have never before seen in a film,… and to be so outrageous but still very real. It is worth owning.

Interesting movie that was worth the $0.99 rental price. Glad I didn't go to a theater to see it.

MikeDrips 2014-03-24
My rental for this dog was 99 cents, which was 98 cents too much. This film is a total unfunny waste of time! Avoid it.

The characters were likable and sympathetic.

I rented it for $.99..and still feel ripped off. Not funny at all. Poor view on marriage but especially love. Don’t waste your money.

Absolutely some of the laziest writing I've ever had to watch in the last 20 minutes of a movie. You get invested in the stories and then they just wrap it like nothing ever happened. Weak, lazy, cheap writing. Not worth your time or $.

Very entertaining movie. I appreciated seeing Adam Scott in a tad more serious role than the others I’ve seen him in. If you want some good chuckles and some substance, watch this.

My $5.99 rental fee will be spent better elsewhere... We both fell asleep within the first hour into the movie.

The cast was good & the characters could've been interesting... Bad script & direction maybe? You can get a lot of texting done during this movie anyway.

Hilarious, relatable film with amazing ensemble cast. Buy/Rent it today!!!

Amazing cast, and they swing for the bleachers. But to no avail. It's plodding and uninspired in all other regards. And... $14.99? With no option to rent? This happens all the time on iTunes now, terrible films with no option to rent. You just have to buy it. I won't again. This kind of thing makes me look elsewhere for entertainment. Wonder why piracy is a problem? Baffling.

I think this movie is hilarious! Adam Scott gives a great performance with a stellar cast surrounding him.

schmadan 2014-01-07
this whole movie is terrible except for the part when Amy Pohler says "sup trey" don't waste your time with this sub par excuse for a movie.

Taster11 2014-01-07
Well, I thought this movie was great! Great plot, great actors. Not overly serious. What’s not to like? Wish I could have rented it instead of bought it though. It’s a movie I would not watch over and over again.

Adam Scott fits this movie perfectly! I enjoyed watching this movie very much. I would highly recommend it to anybody who wants to see a genuinely good movie.
